Petit Grain is a Parisian duo that favors improvisation, the essential key to developing their musical creativity. Their songs are carried along by Yohanna’s powerful energy, her magical flute, and the groove of Guillaume’s guitar. Regulars at Hilaire Penda’s Jams, they have played with numerous groups such as Abdul & the gang, with musicians from Balaphonics and recently with Ludivine Issambourg.

Singer, musician and songwriter Jahelle Bonee has been fusing soul, jazz, hip hop and Ivory Coast sounds since 2014. Connected to music from an early age, she joined a gospel choir and learned the Ahoco and Djembe. Her vision of music is filled with humanity, and she loves to share her music without social boundaries in Africa and France.

Petit Grain’s new single is first and foremost a human encounter between these two worlds, which merge perfectly. The story of this single begins with the meeting of Abidjan singer-percussionist. Jahelle Bonee and Parisian flautist Johanna Welter. They met in a studio in Abidjan during a recording session.Their musical complicity was obvious. Jahelle invited Johanna to play the flutes on her album “Meet my Soul”, with drummer Paco Serry as guest of honor, released in 2024.Back in Abidjan, Johanna introduced Jahelle to Guillaume Repain, a guitarist from Paris. From the moment they met, the beginnings of future collaborations were born: “Akawaba” (Petit Grain feat. Jahelle Bonee, recorded on the spot) and Miri, which will mature when Jahelle and Guillaume meet again in France.

A few months later, during a tour of Côte d’Ivoire, the 3 artists played Miri live. Given the energy and emotion expressed by the audience at each performance, it seemed obvious to them that they should record ‘Miri’ in Côte d’Ivoire before the end of the tour.

‘Miri’ is filled with strong emotions and gives way to breathing, meditation and prayer for a beautiful person who disappeared in the circle of this encounter.
