Avid record collector since 1999, DJ, radio show host and manager of Willwork4funk promotion agency Calamity Jade has slowly but steadily been carving herself a prominent space in the Italian funk scene. From spinning in staple clubs of Italy’s funk/soul circuit, to guesting in club nights abroad (in London in the UK, in Hamburg, Bonn, Cologne and Frankfurt in Germany, in Geneva and Lausanne in Switzerland, in Chambéry and Eygalières in France), or opening/closing for International acts such as The New Mastersounds (UK), The Mighty Mocambos (DE), Myles Sanko (UK), Konkoma (Ghana/UK), Nick Pride & The Pimptones (UK), Lefties Soul Connection (NL), The Baker Brothers (UK), Parish Smith (EMPD – NYC) or Yarah Bravo (UK), Calamity Jade has been incessantly bringing her bags of vinyl goodness to the most discerning ears and funky dancefloors.
In 2012 Jade founded music promotion agency Willwork4funk, specialized in funk, soul, jazz, afro, boogie, disco, breaks & grooves, through which she has collaborated with a variety of labels such as Légère, Mocambo, HopeStreet, Wah Wah 45s, Agogo, Breakin Bread or Jalapeno, to name a few. Since 2013 Jade hosts radio show « Funk Shui » on Radio Popolare and Controradio, which focuses on contemporary funk & soul and regularly features unreleased sneak peaks and world exclusives.
With important events under her belt for brands like MTV, Nespresso, Seletti, G-Star Raw, DiSaronno, Teatro Nuovo, Fiesta Ferrero, Amica Chips, Pitti Uomo and a summer residency as DJ in 5 star hotel Principe di Savoia, Jade can be considered a guarantee both when it comes to providing a classy background for a cocktail hour to rocking a crowd on the dance floor. Her selections are an eclectic mix of old and new funk, soul, breaks, jazz, hip hop, disco and soulful house.
